What We Do

Build Global Communities of Discipleship

Tyrannus and Lydia Halls is a Christian interdenominational non-profit organization that believes in the power of residential discipleship communities among university students. Our mission is to establish and nurture environments where faith, character, and leadership are forged during the most formative years of a student’s life.

Our Strategy for Impact

We are committed to partnering with like-minded groups around the globe to realize these Halls for men and women. Our approach is rooted in long-term sustainability and local ownership.

Based on relationships of trust, we commit to providing initial and partial funding for each Hall. Beyond the physical space, we provide long-term consultancy in establishing and nurturing discipleship communities so that each independently owned and operated Hall can effectively disciple university students according to our established model.

The Five Pillars of the Hall

Every Hall, while unique to its local culture, adheres to the Five Distinctives that define our fellowship:

  1. Theological Lectures: Deepening biblical understanding through rigorous study.

  2. Peer-led Devotions: Cultivating authentic spiritual growth within the student body.

  3. Physical Fitness: Recognizing the importance of discipline and bodily health.

  4. Ministry & Missions: Equipping students to serve their local churches and neighbors.

  5. Academic Excellence: Honoring God through high standards in university studies.

A Global Footprint

From our first Hall established in Tokyo in 1959, this vision has expanded across the globe. Today, we support a network of 20 Tyrannus and Lydia Halls active in 9 countries across Asia and Central Europe.

By investing in these residential communities, we are building up Christian leaders to impact their world today—serving with integrity in their respective communities, governments, and marketplaces for the glory of Christ.
